The Ontario Rodeo Association (O.R.A.) was formed in 1957 at the Bar 11 Ranch, just outside Dundas, Ontario. It was formed to promote rodeo in Ontario and produce a standard set of rules to be followed by the rodeo cowboys and producers as well as a set of rules to protect the stock used in rodeos from inhumane treatment. The ORA works with the Roping Association of Ontario and the Ontario High School Rodeo Association, creating a natural progression for the athletes climbing the ranks. Currently, the seven standard events are Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Tie-down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, and Ladies Barrel Racing. Optional events include Breakaway Roping, Junior Steer Riding, and Junior Barrels.
